FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The selection of Garrett Peck to serve as Interim Director of the Plainfield Park District is the result of careful deliberation and thorough discussion among the members of the board.

Our aim in choosing an Interim Director was to select an individual from outside the organization who could lend a systematic approach to the oversight of the district’s finances and ensure that residents receive the highest quality services at the lowest possible cost.

Mr. Peck’s background in business and his direct experience working with and within government are professional assets which have prepared him well to tackle the tasks that lay before us.

As the newly elected Board President, I consider it my first priority to put our park district on a path of fiscal responsibility, and fully represent the interests of taxpayers. I am confident that the board, working in close cooperation with Mr. Peck, can bring about policies that prevent any further increases in levies and fees while maintaining the high standards of services the patrons of our facilities have come to expect.

Hershey’s Track & Field Games

Hershey’s Track & Field Games was created more than 30 years ago to promote youth physical fitness and provide fun learning experiences for children 9-14 years old. Youth track and field is a great way to get kids started in a physical fitness program. It’s the largest youth sports program of its kind in the United States and Canada. Track and field meets take place in every state and every province in North America. Hundreds of athletes make it to the grand finale - the North American Final in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Run for It!
6/1/2013

Summer is here and there is no better time to try something new! Whether you are a fitness nut or just wanting to give something new a try, join us in celebrating National Running Day. At this event, we will use the term “running” loosely so you can take it at your own pace. The challenge: to get yourself to Eaton Preserve. The motivation: to try something new, to challenge yourself or to encourage a friend. The goal: to do your best and compete only with yourself! The mission: to go one lap around the trail. Feeling good about that first lap? Go for another! This event will teach you proper stretching prior to a walk jog or run; give you a place to start; give you a challenge to accomplish; allow you the opportunity to meet others interested in getting out and being fit; and learning the proper cool down techniques. Along with all the great encouragement and knowledge, you will receive a goody bag and T-shirt to keep you motivated throughout the summer. Water will be provided on the trail and healthy snacks will be served after you’re finished!
