Full-Time Positions
Park Horticultural Specialist

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. May be required to work other days and times.
Salary: $14.42 - $16.82/hour, DOQ
Job Description: This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing typical duties related to grounds maintenance and grounds improvements. Frequently will be leader to seasonal employees.
Duties: Duties include monitoring/maintaining plant beds, organizing pesticide crews, administering watering schedule, other horticulture-related tasks, and operation of various forms of park equipment. As assigned, may be required to assist in snowfall removal, including plowing and shoveling. This is a year-round outdoor position.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred, in agronomy, horticulture, landscaping, turf management or related field.
Experience: Prefer 2-3 years experience in the maintenance of parks and grounds. Recent college graduates with intern experience will also be considered.
Certifications: Must possess an Illinois Pesticide Applicators License or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
Other Qualifications: Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Part-Time Positions
Barn Coordinator
Duties: Feeding horses, watering, turn out, helping lesson students, and other barn chores. Horse knowledge and experience required!
Salary: $7.50-$8 per hour
Days: Monday - Sunday with day and evening shifts available
Hours: 10-19 hours per week

JBSRA Inclusion Aide

Days/Hours: Days/hours will be set by Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor.
Job Description: Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor, responsible for assisting program instructors in providing recreational programs for children and adults with special needs in a safe environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the recreation activities for various special populations in a variety of community-based programs
2. Actively support and follow through with the program instructor’s safety program.
3. Assist the participants with the activity and accommodations needed.
4. Attend programmatic meeting and in-services as scheduled
5. Report any problems or concerns to the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor I.
6. Other duties as assigned by the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor I.
7. Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program.
Qualifications:
1. One to three years experience in special recreation or related field.
2. Must be 18 years old or older.
3. Certification in first aid and CPR.
4. Confidence in your abilities to interact with children, teens and adults with various disabilities.
5. Be able to work independently.
6. A positive attitude towards individuals with disabilities.
7. An attitude of enthusiasm and commitment in providing recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Required Knowledge:
1. Ability to recognize and appropriately interact with individuals with disabilities.
2. Knowledge of planning and implementing special recreation programs.
3. Working knowledge of basic computer programs.
Cognitive Considerations:
Must have the ability to read, write and organize materials. Ability to develop and administer a simple budget. Must be able to relate to other people in a professional manner. Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment.
