The shelter permit includes use of the existing set of tables, trash cans, grill(s), and facilities of the pavilion. Additional tables and trash cans will not be provided by the Park District. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to verify the available facilities and provide supplemental items on their own. The following items are not allowed: alcoholic beverages, inflatable rides such as moon jumps or slides; tents or other temporary facilities, including portable bathrooms; bands, DJ’s, or other live music; electrical needs other than what is currently available at the site; commercial use of Park District property; performances, contests, or other public displays, regardless of being for profit or non-profit; and use of grills other than what is supplied at site, catering services, or other food vendors.
Reservation forms should be posted in the location provided on site on the day of the reservation, and all general park rules and posted park regulations should be followed. Groups are responsible for placing all trash in the garbage cans provided or properly removing it from the site. The site will be inspected after each use. Any excess debris or damage will be the responsibility of the permit holder. In the event of damage, the group may lose their security deposit.
Fees will be determined by the Park District, and may include supervision fees, set-up fees, clean-up fees, or police supervision. The Park District reserves the right to waive these fees in its best interest. Groups that violate policies, fail to properly clean up their site, cause damage to facilities, are larger than arranged for, or are misleading in their application are subject to loss of their security deposit.
Deposits are refunded after the event pending site inspection. All deposits will be returned by check. Refund checks are approved at the Board of Commissioners meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Checks are mailed the next day.
If a shelter reservation is cancelled, only the security deposit will be refunded. Cancellations must be made at least 10 business days prior to the reservation date.
