Description: "City in a Garden," the official motto of Chicago, has guided Chicago's vision of maintaining and increasing green space for all. Discover the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, originally built in 1889. In 2001, the pool underwent a major restoration and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Leave the hustle and bustle of Chicago behind and explore this picturesque, serene haven. Stop at an exciting new Chicago green space, The Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo. This "urban oasis" is a re-development of the South Pond and home to various species of birds, turtles, and fish. Visit Chicago's premier urban perennial garden, Millennium Park's Lurie Garden. The Lurie Garden is living art, a palette of texture and color blending Chicago's unique culture, ecology, history and people. Family-style lunch at Carmine's is included in the day.
