FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cambridge Run HOA celebrates Arbor Day '11
June 8, 2011
For the second year in a row, the Cambridge Run Homeowners Association celebrated Arbor Day with a new tree planting in its neighborhood park. This year's celebration also included construction of a daylily flower bed and a dedication ceremony on April 23. All donations were contributed by The Fields on Caton Farm Inc. in Joliet.
The tree, a Cleveland Select Pear, was planted near the park's Frontier Lane entrance. The tree has white flowers in the spring, glossy green leaves in the summer, and a combination of red, orange, and yellow leaves in the fall. The daylily flower bed was constructed around the Park District's entrance sign, and will display a variety of daylilies that bloom throughout the year.
Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees. Founded in the United States in 1872, the holiday is celebrated on the last Friday in April each year.
Thank you again to the Cambridge Run HOA for their environmental initiative and The Fields on Caton Farm Inc. for their generous donation!
